Saturday without daddy

We had another busy exciting day today. The morning did not start out well! It started with the cat waking both Eli and myself up at just after 6:30. Eli got in bed with me and we watched blues clues. After Blues clues we headed down stair to get breakfast started. We went into the kitchen the back way, for some reason, and I put Eli on the counter. I went to get a pan to start the eggs and when I turned I saw it, a SNAKE! Laying on the carpet in front of the kitchen door was a snake about a foot long a little thinker then a pencil. I started to freak out, but that only scared Eli and caused him to cry so I had to pull it together. I started thinking, who can I call, "my dad? no he's too far away. Jake (friends husband)? no still too far. Paul (neighbor across the street)? no he wouldn't be awake and wouldn't hear his phone anyways. I guess it's up to me to take care of this thing." So then I had to decided how to get rid of it. First I thought BBQ tongs but I didn't want to get that close to it. Then I remembered that my grandaddy always used a hoe to get rid of snakes. We didn't have a hoe but we had a shovel so that is what I used. All this time while I am freaking out the snake was laying on it's back so I assumed it was dead, couldn't figure out why it was dead though. So I went and got the shovel and I touch the snake to pick it up with the shovel and it was not dead at all!!!!! So I started beating it with the shovel until it stoped moving then scooped it up and took it out side and cut it's head off with the shovel. I guess the snake was playing dead because the cat was sitting real close to it, but of course my cat does nothing about the snake.

After Eli and I finally calmed down after our snake experience I made Eli breakfast of scrambled eggs, toast and milk. These eggs were special because they had veggies in them. Eli ate a half a cup of eggs and 2 slices of toast. I'm loving this cook book I'm using because so far Eli has liked everything I have made out of it. after breakfast I had to kick it into high gear because we had to get out the door. The snake made me waste too much time. I need to drop Eli off at a friend's house so me and said friend could go to a Mary Kay makeover. My friends husband offered to babysit Eli while we went. Eli had a blast. My friend has 3 boys and the youngest, Owen, is Eli's age. Of course Owen decided to take a nap soon after Eli got there and didn't wake up until I picked Eli up. But Eli had a blast with the older boys. Eli loves older kids.

This is Eli and Tyler (our friend's middle child)

After I picked Eli up we headed down to League City to visit with Thomas' parents. Eli had a great time playing at his grandparents house. He even remembered where the wooden blocks that his grandpa made where. I think the last time Eli played with those block was in May and Eli remembered them and went looking for them. I also think Eli might have named him grandpa, pop. When Eli was playing in the pack-n-play he would call, "Pop". And when Paul would leave the room he would call, "Pop".

Eli playing in the pack-n-play. He had so much fun playing in it.

Eli has this new game that he has enjoyed playing so much. He is playing it with grandma here. He goes a ways away and then runs as fast as he can into you. He just about knocked grandma over.

Eli loves lawn mowers, so when the yard crew came to do the yard, grandpa took Eli to look out the window to see them work.

Grandma bought a basket to hold toys in and I think Eli might have had more fun with the basket than the toys.

Grandpa wasn't paying attention and had his foot out where Eli could "grab" a ride!

After we left the grandparents we head for home so that we could get ready for our friend, Jackson's, 2nd birthday party. We were home about 15 minutes and during that time Eli decided he had to have dinner right then. So I plopped him in his high chair and fed him some chicken roll ups, milk and chocolate chip cookies. If he would have waited 20 more minutes he could have had pizza. Oh well, what he ate had to different veggies in the roll ups and the cookies had chickpeas in them for added protein and fiber. We had a great time swimming at Jackson's party. I got Eli some arm floaties and he is starting to figure out that he can float with them. He is still a little nervous about being in the deeper water and likes to hang out on the steps instead.

Even though our day started out a little rough we had a great day. I love having busy days but I love even more when we get home from busy days and snuggle before bed. I love my little man so much. I can't believe that God entrusted Thomas and I with this wonderful gift to raise!
