Yes, that right another family reunion! This is our third for 2010. Fourth if you count the small McMinn reunion we had in mid December of 2009. Eli is meeting a lot of family this year. This reunion takes place in Delhi, Tx. Since I'm sure no one knows where that "town" is I'll give you some reference point. Delhi is about 20 min south west of Bastrop. If you don't know where Bastrop is, it's about 30/45 minutes east of Austin. So in other words Delhi is in the middle of no where.
When we made plans a while back we decided that we would go up to Bastrop on the Friday before the reunion and stay the night there. There is a really nice state park in Bastrop. What we didn't know was that Hurricane Alex was going to come and drop so much rain on us on Friday. It rained on us almost the whole way to Bastrop. We did get to stop in Giddings and let Eli have his 1st Blizzard! So when we got to Bastrop and checked into the hotel it was raining again. We didn't get to any of the fun things I thought we could do, like go to the state park or go walking on the river. Even the hotel pool was closed due to weather! So we had to figure out some indoor fun for us to do. So we took Eli to Walmart and let him play in the toy section for over an hour. Eli had a blast. We then went to Cartwright BBQ for dinner and after dinner we just walked around all over the place, in and out of rain drops.
At the hotel we had to share a room with Eli and as many of ya'll know Eli goes to bed really early. So we did our best to try and keep Eli up as late as possible so Thomas and I wouldn't have to go to bed at 7. We finally let Eli go to bed around 8:30. Eli did great sleeping in a different place until about 4:30 in the morning when he woke up crying. I got up and got him and he immediately calmed down. When I tried to put him back in the crib he just wasn't having it! So I decided I would take him into bed with me. Thomas and I learned when Eli was only a couple of days old that he could not share our bed. We tried one other time when Eli had a bad cold and that too didn't last but an hour before I went and put him back in his crib. Who know such a little boy could command so much bed space! At first, when I brought him into our bed it was sweet. He just wanted to cuddle with his mama. After awhile I tried move him off me so I could turn over and fall back asleep and he would just cuddle deeper with me. I finally got him moved off me and onto a pillow, after a few minutes of me being rolled over I heard Thomas say, "Eli, lay down and go to sleep". I decided at that point daddy was in charge and I was going back to sleep. At one point I woke up and Eli had taken over all of my pillows and I was using just the edge of the bed for my head and both my boys were snoring hard! When I finally woke up for the day I found in interesting sight. Eli was horizontal in the bed stretched across his daddy's arm and completely on all the pillows with both his feet on his daddy's face. I did manage to get a couple of pictures when Eli was waking up.
How can something so small take up so much space?!?
After we were all up and dressed we made it down the hall to grab some breakfast. Eli has been trying to steal sips of coffee for a long time and this morning I thought I would give him a taste of my coffee since it had no sugar in it. I figured if he tasted the coffee without any sugar he wouldn't want it any more (why does everything back fire on me?!). Well, he took on sip and made a face and then a few minutes later he was asking for more and chugging my coffee down! I guess he takes after his Nanny. After breakfast we got the car packed, checked out of the hotel and headed out to the Dehi community center.
The family reunion was a great time. It was fun catching up with family and showing everyone how much Eli had grown. Eli just had a blast playing with his cousins.
But before we could start the family fun Eli had to vacuum the building out!
Eli decided he wanted to be part of the conversation but didn't feel tall enough so he stacked his cars, blanky, and vacuum and then climb up on top all by him self. I think we need to get him a booster seat!
Chowing down on some yummy BBQ and fixin's
Playing legos with Caleb. Well, Eli was playing, Caleb thought they made a good teether.
Stacking blocks with daddy.
Eli stacked all those blocks himself, daddy was just helping keep them steady while Eli made it taller. As soon as he put that last block on he knocked it all down.
Caleb was suppose to be taking a nap but wasn't having it so Eli decided to come over and say hi.
I think Eli wanted to find out what Caleb tasted like. I never thought I would have to say, "Eli don't lick your cousin"
The Mullinnix Cousins. Walker, Eli, Sophie and Caleb. We should have put them in age order but then Eli and Walker couldn't have their cheese saying competition.
A lit bit of Eli and Walker saying cheese back and forth. They did it for a long time but I only caught a little bit on camera.
The cousins with their great grandparents.
One with Eli and Walker acting like hams.
Walker loves cars just like Eli. Eli loved playing cars with his cousin.
Caleb decided to come over and get in on the car action.
The 3 Mullinnix boy cousins all into cars, awesome!
The Mullinnix clan.
Eli feel asleep on the way home from the reunion (which is about a 3 hour trip) and woke up just as we were turning on to Rayford road. He put the blanket over his head because he was not ready to wake up. He was acting like he wanted someone to turn off the sun.
Even with all the rain it was a fun trip and we had a great time with the family! I am so happy that Eli gets time to play with his cousins. I also love how much Eli loves playing with his cousins even if he has never met them or only sees them once a year.
