5k, 3k, grandparents and friends

This is going to be a long post! We did so much on Saturday that it makes me exhausted just thinking about it.

Saturday started out with the James Glenn summer kick-off fun run. I was running the 5K while Thomas, Melissa and Jonathan walked the 3K while pushing the boys in strollers. This is the 19th and final year for this fun run. Thomas ran in the very 1st run so we saw it as only fitting that he participate in the very last one. We have also participated in the fun run back in 2006 and it was such a fun event I have been wanting to do it again but just hadn't had a chance until this year. The 5K started at 8 am and since Thomas picked up all of our race packets the day before we didn't show up till just before the race started. That was really nice. I ran the 5K and then ran back to met up with the rest and finish walking with them. So we all crossed the finish run together. It was such a nice day for the event. It was very cloudy with a nice breeze it felt really nice outside. I finished the run 4th in my age bracket, too bad they only give medals for the 1st 3 finishers in each age bracket. I did beat my best 5K time though by finishing it in 27 minutes and 5 seconds.

This is the starting line

Thomas tried to get a picture of me running the 5K. I'm back there in the pink shirt.

Thomas clicked a picture as I passed them heading to the finish line. I have a goofy look on my face because I'm trying to get Eli's attention.

Eli loves his balloon. He got it at the post race party.

Eli saw a couple of kids sitting on the ground at the post race party and decided he wanted to join them so he sat down near them. He kept getting up and scooting closer to the boy.

Eli wanted to eat Wheaties just like the 2 other kids.

The mom of the 2 kids came over and sat down and saw everyone eating Wheaties and asked Eli if he would go get her some too. Sure enough Eli went over to the table to get her a box.

Eli handed the box to the lady, he was such a gentleman!

Eli really liked Wheaties

He liked them so much he tried to share them with Caleb, he also tried to feed me some too a few times.

Caleb and Eli were really interested in my shoe for some reason

Sweet cousins!

A nice group photo of us.

As we were heading to the car Eli spoted the fire truck and wanted to go over and see it. The fire people were so nice. They gave Eli and Caleb a fireman's hat and then let them sit in the truck. Eli just loved it!

Caleb's turn!

When Thomas, Eli and I finally left the post race party we headed over to Thomas' parents house to visit with them. Gandpa had made some wooden blocks for Eli to play with and Eli had a blast stacking them up and knocking them down.

After visiting with grandma and grandpa we made our way back home. Eli fell asleep in the car because traffic was so bad through Houston it took us an hour and a half when it normally takes less then an hour to get home. Of course Eli woke up as soon as we got on Riley Fuzzel I decided that I would try driving around a little more to see if I could get him to fall back to sleep but the road I chose to drive on had a bunch of tractor doing construction so of course this pearked Eli right up. We decided to put Eli in his crib anyways when we got home. He stayed in his crib for a little over an hour. I don't know if he slept anymore but he was quiet and would only occasionally make quite noise so at least he was resting.

After resting for a couple of hours we loaded up again and headed to Waller. A couple of friends of mine turned 30 a week apart and their family was holding a joint 30th Birthday. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed visiting with friends I don't get to see very often.

Eli had to take the telephone in the car with us on the way to Waller. I wonder who was calling...

Eli stole a water bottle from under the table.

Thomas and Eli, they were going back outside to play on the playground. Eli was having a blast playing on the playground. The birthday party was held at Waller Baptist Church which is the church I grew up in and my parents still go to, so Eli has been there several times and he knew right where to go to get to the playground.

Nikki's youngest, Walker, looking all cute!

We finally got home around 8:30. Eli was so tired, he fell asleep in the car on the way home. He barely woke up when I changed him into his night clothes and put him to bed. Thomas and I went to bed shortly after putting Eli to bed. We kept forgeting it was only Saturday and we still had one more day in our weekend. We did so much on Saturday it felt like we had the whole weekend in one day. It was a really fun day filled with lots of family and friends!
